Job Description
Real Estate Agents assist clients in selling and buying property. They have a thoroughly knowledge of the real estate market as well as local zoning and tax laws. Agents also act as an intermediary in price negotiations.
Necessary Education
High School Education
All states require a state real estate license that requires passing a written test; given after 30-90 hours of classroom instruction
Helpful High School Courses
Business, Computer Applications, English, Mathematics
Working Conditions
- Work in offices or from home
- Work with clients to purchase or sell properties
- Often work 50 or more hours per week
- Often work during evening and weekend hours

Career Ladder Information
- Experience with a company can take the form of higher commission and/or a position as a sales or general manager
- Earning a brokers license can lead to self-employment
