Job: Police Officer
Job Description
Police Officers enforce laws and regulations to protect the safety and well being of citizens. In small communities and rural areas, police officers may investigate a burglary, direct traffic, give first aid and patrol the streets. In larger police departments, officers are usually assigned to a specific duty such as detective, street patrol, vice and burglary investigations.
Necessary Education
Usually requires an Associate Degree plus training at an agencys academy. Training at police academies typically lasts 12 to 14 weeks

Accounting, Finance, Foreign Language, Physical Education, Law Enforcement, Computer Applications
Working Conditions
- Work can be dangerous and stressful
- Works indoors or outdoors
- Work usually scheduled for a 40-hour week
- Shift work is necessary and overtime pay is common
