Job: Probation Officer
Job Description
Probation Officers are responsible for helping law offenders adjust to life outside prison and become successful and productive members of society. Probation officers often do pre-sentence investigations and prepare reports on adults and juveniles in their caseload.
Necessary Education
Bachelors Degree
Helpful High School Courses
English, Behavioral Sciences (Psychology, Sociology), Foreign Language
Working Conditions
- Usually works a standard 40-hour week, but may be on call
- May be emotionally draining
- Works in a variety of settings depending on the needs of the client
- Evaluates and counsels individuals in the criminal justice system
