Job: Library Technician
Job Description
Library Technicians help librarians acquire, organize and prepare materials. They help patrons find information and materials. Some library technicians operate and maintain audiovisual equipment.
Necessary Education
High School Diploma to Bachelors Degree
Many employers require an Associate Degree in liberal arts and library-related studies
Helpful High School Courses
English, Mathematics, Social Science, Computer Application and Database Courses
Working Conditions
- Works directly under the supervision of a librarian
- Work may require weekends and evenings
- May require sitting at a desk or computer terminal for long periods of time
- Work involves public contact and interaction with patrons
- May be required to do repetitive tasks as well as research
- Works in a comfortable, quiet setting
