Job: Middle School Teacher
Middle school teachers act as facilitators or coaches, using interactive discussions and “hands-on” learning to help students learn and apply concepts in subject matters, in order to succeed in the future workforce. They typically specialize in a specific subject area.
Necessary Education
Bachelor’s Degree including completion of an approved
Teacher Education Program and certification
Helpful High School Courses
English, Mathematics, Science, Computer Applications; subjects related to teaching interest
Working Conditions
- Work a 40-hour week and a 10-month school year
- Work may deal with large class size and a heavy workload
- Work in classrooms with occasional field trips or extra curricular activities
- Work can be rewarding as well as stressful and frustrating
