Job: Teacher Aide / Teacher Assistant
Job Description
Teacher Aides provide clerical and instructional support for classroom teachers, so teachers have more time for teaching and planning lessons. Teacher aides may tutor students, supervise students on the playground, in the cafeteria and discipline center, record grades, set up labs or equipment and prepare instructional materials.
Necessary Education
High School Diploma to some college
Helpful High School Courses
English, Math, Science, Computer Applications, Business
Working Conditions
- Works the traditional 9- to 10-month school year
- Usually works in a classroom setting
- May work outdoors, supervising recess and field trips
- May spend much time standing and walking
- May perform a combination of instructional and clerical duties
- Work can be both physically and emotionally draining
- Criminal background check is usually required

$23,850
