Job: Nutritionist
Job Description
Nutritionists plan food and nutrition programs, supervise the preparation and serving of meals, help prevent and treat illnesses by promoting healthy eating habits and suggesting diet modifications, and conduct research. Major areas of practice include clinical, community, management and consultant dietetics.

Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Health, Psychology
Working Conditions
- Usually work a standard 40-hour week, although some work weekends dependent on the particular facility
- Work may require standing much of the day

Career Ladder Information
- The Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association (ADA) awards the Registered Dietitian credential to individuals who pass a certification exam, after completing their academic coursework and supervised experience
- Students interested in research, advanced clinical positions, or public health may need an advanced degree
