Job: Social Services Assistant
Job Description
Social Services Assistants provide direct and indirect client services. They may establish clients eligibility for benefits and help clients obtain these benefits. They keep case records and often telephone or visit clients homes.
Necessary Education
Associate Degree or Certificates in Human Services or Social Work
Helpful High School Courses
Communications, Computer Applications, English, Psychology, Science, Sociology
Working Conditions:
- May work in offices, clinics and hospitals, group homes, shelters or day care programs
- Work may be emotionally draining
- Usually work a 40-hour work week though some evening or weekend hours may be required

Career Ladder Information
- A Bachelors Degree or Masters is required for advancement
