Job Description

Computer Support Specialists or technical support representatives provide advice and assistance to computer users. They help users deal with computer hardware, software and systems concerns. They frequently work for a help desk or support systems firm.

Necessary Education

Associate and/or Bachelor’s Degree

Helpful High School Courses

Sciences, Mathematics, English, Behavior Sciences, Computer Applications, Computer Programming

Working Conditions

  • Works in offices
  • Usually works a 40-hour week
  • Work may be required on weekends and nights to provide customer support
  • Work may cause eyestrain, back, wrist and hand problems

  • 2003, Delaware average annual salary, $51,800
  • 2003, Delaware average hourly wage, $24.90
